Hi, I’m Racquel.
I grew up in a small town in Central QLD.
Immediately after completing high school, I began studying a Bachelor of Laws at Bond University, on the Gold Coast. It was a massive lifestyle change moving from a farm in Central QLD to being beside the beach; but I loved it.
In June 2022 I completed my studies and was admitted to the legal profession in December 2022 as a qualified lawyer.
Coming from a rural community, it has always been important to me to use my skills & experience to give back to smaller communities. I decided to move to the Whitsundays as it offers a regional community lifestyle, while also being a beautiful part of the world.
Why law?
I have always been interested in studying law due to my interests & talent for research, analysis & problem solving – I thought that this would be an ideal career for me.
During my studies, I worked in a law firm as a Law Clerk supporting the litigation team, focusing on family law, estate planning, & litigation for 12 months. This was essential for me to be able to learn on the job and gain some hands-on experience.
I have been specifically interested in working in commercial law as I am excited by the prospect of completing intellectually challenging work, which will allow me the opportunity to continue learning and developing throughout my career.
How would you describe your approach?
I consider interpersonal skills to be one of the most important qualities for a lawyer to have, and I strive for meaningful relationships with clients.
I understand that legal matters can often be incredibly stressful for clients, and I aim to deliver a high standard of care and expertise throughout my involvement in a matter.
