Hi, I’m Kristy.
Whilst living in Melbourne, I worked in the legal industry for 8 years. I enjoy studying & learning new things, so I decided to enrol to RMIT to complete a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice to advance my skills.
Four years ago, my partner & I relocated to the Whitsundays for a change of scenery and lifestyle. We had friends and family living in Mackay, so we thought why not? It was one of the best decisions we have ever made.
After moving, I was looking to expand my career options and decided to apply for a role at PD Law, which was accepted. I have now been working here for almost 3 years, working in the conveyancing team. I love my team and being able to work with a wide variety of clients every day.
In my role as a conveyancing paralegal, I assist & support clients who are purchasing or selling a residential property.
Why law?
Property law is sometimes challenging to navigate. Conveyancing is an important role in the property purchase or sale process. A conveyancer is there to help clients ensure the process is as smooth as possible from beginning to end.
I enjoy being a conveyancing paralegal because I get to help clients through an often-stressful time. Buying or selling property of any calibre can be hard work – if you haven’t gone through the process before. It’s my job to break down complex legal information to clients to ensure everyone is on the same page, and deadlines aren’t missed.
How would you describe your approach?
It’s important to me for my clients to lean on me when needed. I like to learn as much as I can about my clients’ individual circumstances to ensure their case is managed appropriately.
I will call, email, or meet with clients whenever needed to help navigate them through their purchase or sale and remove some of the stress they may be feeling. It’s important for clients to feel supported and looked after during their matter.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate 4 in Business Administration
- Diploma in Legal Services
- 3 years’ experience
